The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Student of the Month for Orangefield High School is Justin Dupuis. Justin was presented his certificate and gift bag by Chamber Ambassador Lucy Fields at the February 9th coffee hosted by Neches Federal Credit Union’s Bridge City Branch. He received gift certificates and gifts from: The Classy Peacock, Bridge City Walmart, Wellspring Credit Union, Tiger Rock Martial Arts, COS Printing, Sabine River Ford, Sabine Federal Credit Union, Complete Staffing, Five Point Credit Union, Scot C. Shaffer Farmers Insurance, Neighbors Emergency Center, MCT Credit Union, Little Caesars, and Neches Federal Credit Union.
Justin is the son of David and Cynthia Dupuis. He has a GPA of 4.66 and is ranked 6th of 118. Justin’s awards and honors include:
- RYLA Participant
- All-Region Band Member 11th & 12th grade
- Area qualifier 12th grade
- Voice of Democracy finalist 12th grade; placed 3rd in the district
- Stark Reading contest finalist 11th & 12th grade, advanced to district in 11th grade
- All “A” honor roll 9th – 12th grades

In community service, Justin has volunteered on service projects with Interact (shopping for the homeless and assembling gift bags for the rape crisis center) and NHS service projects visiting nursing homes and helping with Little Dribblers.
LeeAnn Johnson, math teacher, said, “Justin is a pleasure to teach. He can always be counted on the engage the classroom in critical thought. His work ethic and intelligence are always a positive addition, and his presence brings joy and humor to any situation.”
Jennifer Rumsey, English and Foreign Language teacher, said, “I enjoyed teaching Justin Dupuis in my AP English Language and Composition class. Justin is a very smart young man with a terrific work ethic. Justin excelled in the challenging writing assignments, and he always made an A in this course. Justin is a likeable, well-mannered young man. He has a successful future ahead of him.”
Kevin Credeur, Band Director, said, “Justin is a very hard-working and dedicated student. He pursues many activities and succeeds at them. He is the model of a student leader! With Justin’s work ethic he will be very successful in all of his endeavors.”
After high school, Justin plans to attend the University of Houston or Lamar University and major in Computer Science with a minor in music.

Chaston is the son of Chrysta Miller. He has a GPA of 4.34 and is ranted 16 of 158. Chaston’s awards and honors include:
- Drum Major – 3 years, acknowledged as the Youngest Drum Major for BCHS his Sophomore year
- Area Jazz Band – Freshman and Sophomore
- Region 10 TMEA All-Region Band – 7th Chair Senior and 15th Chair Junior
- Academic All-District Baseball – Sophomore and Junior
Chaston’s clubs and organizations include: Band, baseball, Student Council, National Honor Society, Student Body Executive Vice President and BCTV. In community service, Chaston has volunteered at the First Baptist Church Groves VPS and sports camp, Cardinal Can Hunt, and Dance Marathon for the Cancer Society.
Diane Grooters, English Teacher, said “I have the privilege of having Chaston Miller in English 1301 and 1302. He is a dedicated student who has established a path of intelligence, achievement and spiritual strength. In my class, Chaston has a remarkable ability to analyze literature and uncover unusual and profound meaning. At the same time, he is able to discover the irony—the humor—of a situation, in literature and in life. What a unique gift, exceptional intellect and a sense of humor—the combination will serve him well.”
Faye Parish, Math Teacher, said “Chaston Miller is a wonderful young man. He is vibrant, energetic, and unassuming. Chaston embodies school spirit and Cardinal Pride. Every spirit day, he is dressed in the theme of the day and encourages others to exhibit Cardinal Pride. Chaston is an excellent college algebra student. He listens attentively and asks in-depth questions. Our homework is online and time consuming. Chaston does not settle for just doing his homework, he does it until it is an A. College Algebra is challenging and Chaston thrives on that challenge.”
Russell Tipton, Director of Bands, said “Chaston Miller has been a drum major for the BCHS Band for three years. He is the unquestioned student leader of the band and his character is irreplaceable. Chaston has and continues to manage a full plate of activities in addition to band. His ventures include athletics and student counsel. Chaston is a very impressive young man and is very deserving of the honor of “Student of the Month”.”
When asked about his plans after high school, Chaston said, “I plan to attend Lamar University next fall and study music. With my education in music, I would like to be a middle school or high school band director. Also, I plan on being a bi-vocational music minister.”
