Reflectors 4 Responders is a project by Youth Leadership Southeast Texas. Their goal is to place 275 reflective blue markers near fire hydrants in Orange County to assist first responders locate the hydrants during emergency situations.
Gabby Howe and Makenzie Land spoke for the six-member group to the City Council in Bridge City about their project. Mentoring the Bridge City group of students is school Superintendent Todd Lintzen. He said the students raised all the money themselves, about $1,000, to purchase the reflectors and refreshments to be served when the blue markers are distributed in the county. Lintzen expressed, “I am very proud of them.”
Youth Leadership Southeast Texas will be placing the reflectors by hydrants on Saturday, April 1. Volunteers are welcomed to help with the project and can join the students participating in Reflectors 4 Responders at the Bridge City Elementary School on April 1 at 8:00 AM.
