Mazda North American Operations has increased its support to the Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) by donating 16 vehicles to the American Red Cross. Mazda was the first American automobile manufacturer to join the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, and by continuing to provide support and donations this year, Mazda is the only automobile manufacturer to be a member of the ADGP at the million dollar level.
Craig Salsberry, Regional General Manager for Mazda, was in Orange recently to present one of the 3 Mazda CX-5 SRVs that Mazda donated to the Texas Gulf Coast Region of the American Red Cross.
“We want to do more to give back to the community, and feel that by giving to Red Cross we are doing just that. In traveling with the Red Cross through the recent flooding in the Houston area we saw how big, how involved, and how effective the Red Cross is”, said Salsberry. “We were amazed at the volunteers that Red Cross has, how churches are also involved with Red Cross and how much food and how many meals are provided.”
Larry David, chairman of the Southeast and Deep East Texas Chapter of American Red Cross accepted the keys to the new CX-5.
“We appreciate the donation from Mazda, and we give them our thanks for their generous donation this year”, said David.
Three CX-5s were donated to the Texas Gulf Coast Region. The one donated to the Southeast and Deep East Texas chapter and the one donated to the Greater Houston Chapter were courtesy of Clear Lake Mazda. Autonation Mazda provided the CX-5 to the Coastal Bend Chapter.
Mazda donated the other 13 vehicles to Red Cross regions in Oklahoma, Kansas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Florida.
