A man was arrested Monday afternoon in Orange for criminal mischief in connection with shooting a BB gun and breaking a window on a car. The shooting was about 2:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Carter Avenue east of 16th Street.
Two other people at the house were arrested on misdemeanor warrants. One of those, a woman, will face an additional charge of failure to identify herself to peace officers.
Orange Patrol Officer B.I. Besser reported police had a call about a disturbance involving a gun and surrounded the house. The resident came outside when called by police and allowed them to search.
The man accused of shooting the BB gun did not have warrants. However two other people in the house had warrants issued for their arrest. Officer Besser said the woman first gave a name and birth date that did not match anything in the dispatcher’s computer system.
The owner of the vehicle with the broken window told police the woman’s identity. Officer Besser said the woman was taken to the Orange County Jail, but then she was taken by ambulance to the hospital emergency room to be examined. She was then brought back to the jail.
Police recovered a magazine for a BB gun, a Co2 cartridge and a box of BBs. Officers later returned and found the gun.
