Some stores and restaurants inspected during the last part of September had problems with mold in ice machines and slush machines. Also, a dead mouse was found at one. But otherwise, the food businesses fared well. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales handed out a lot of A’s. The lowest score was an 87 and went to Zapco Food Mart at 18548 Highway 62 South outside of Orangefield.
Scales gave perfect scores to The Garden District in Little Cypress, J.B.’s Barbecue in Orange and Luigi’s Italian Grill in West Orange. He found no violations at inspections for soup kitchens at Mount Sinai Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church, both in Orange. During the last two weeks of the month, he inspected 26 food establishments.
