Steven Warren Ogle went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2015 at the age of 66.
Steve was born October 12, 1948 in Austin, Texas to June and Warren Ogle. June later married J. T. Murphree who was a wonderful father to Steve and his brother Jeff. Steve graduated from Travis High School, where he was student body president and a member of the national honor society, then attended the University of Texas while working at the old First City Bank, where he made many friends and continued to work for 18 years, leaving as an Executive Vice President. During this time he was an accomplished high school and college basketball referee. He called the Texas Boys State Basketball Tournament the maximum times permitted and loved every minute of it – even when hit in the head with a hotdog!
He met and married the love of his life, Lori in 1989. Their lives were filled with love, adventure, books, basketball games, church services, struggle, successes and friendship but became thrilling when their son, John Campbell Collier Ogle was born in 1994. Steve taught him basketball, Longhorn football, love for our country, Mexican food, Blue Bell, sacrifice and the importance of being a Godly man. He loved nothing more than watching John play basketball and was blessed to watch him play for Hendrix college and win their conference in February and then graduate in May. He could not have been more proud.
Steve remained in the banking industry but missed the days of honorable men making deals with their word and a handshake. He was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lori and son, John, his brother Jeff and wife Toni, his mother and father-in-law, Brenda and Cimron Campbell, sister-in-law Kam Whitehead and husband, Jim, his precious niece and nephew, Cimron and Aubrey Ford and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held Friday, the seventh of August, 2015 at eleven O’clock in the morning at Graceview Baptist Church in Tomball. If you would like, in lieu of flowers please donate, in Steve’s name to Second Baptist Church Woodway.
