Odessa Lee Mahaffey, 47, of Deweyville, passed away on January 2, 2016 at her home in Deweyville, Texas.
Odessa was born on September 28, 1968 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to parents Edna Lee (Bowman) and Noble C. Mahaffey. She lived in Deweyville for the past 28 years; prior in Sheldon Woods, near Houston, Texas. Odessa enjoyed playing softball, spending time with her friends; loved to sing, crafting, trying out new cooking recipes, and many other artistic pursuits that showcased her vibrant personality. Odessa was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend; who loved nothing more than to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Carlson Mahaffey.
Odessa is survived by her parents, Noble and Edna Mahaffey; daughter, Victoria Lee Tolbert and husband, Michael of Shreveport, LA; sons, Anthony Dixon of Orange, TX and Zachary Eugene Trahan of Shreveport, LA; sister, Janice Lee Johnson and husband, Edward of Kilgore, TX; brothers, Larry Hill and wife, Julie, of Bakersfield, CA, Randy Hill and wife, Laura of Dallas, TX, Johnny Hill and wife, Mary Anne of Houston, TX; grandchildren Mason Noble Richard Tolbert, and one on the way. She is also survived by a large extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 2pm at the chapel of Dorman Funeral Home, with a gathering of friends and family from noon until service time. Reverend Damon Bickham will be officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Cemetery in Ridgeway, Texas. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dorman Funeral Home.
