Mildred Delores Paul was born December 8, 1935 in Tyler, Texas to Chester A. Mark, Sr. and Beatrice J. Mark.
Orange became her home after graduating from Prairie View A&M College in 1955, becoming a teacher at Wallace High School.
Mildred worked at Orange Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Department from 1959 – 1968 when she went to work at DuPont until she retired.
An active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, she lead many projects and committees and held various offices, including Chapter President.
Mildred enjoyed cooking, collecting cookbooks, reading, and doing things for others. She always said “I feed the hungry.” She was also well known for telling anyone who entered her kitchen to “Wash your hands!”
In 1956 she married Wickliff Paul, Jr. and raised two children. She also had 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They shared their lives for fifty seven years, being separated by his death, June 30, 2014. She is also predeceased by her father, mother, and brother.
Her love and memory will remain in the hearts of her sons; Wickliff Paul III (Stephanie) and Mark Adrian Paul; four grandchildren, Alexis, Derek and Evan Paul, and Nicole Thompson; three great grandchildren, Jackson, Jayla, and Aaliyah; and numerous relatives, loved ones, and friends.
Mildred departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 1409 6th Street, Orange, TX, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 4320 Meeks Drive, Orange, TX, under the direction of Calvary Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
