John E. (Johnny) Hanks III passed away at Pinehurst Nursing Home on August 26, 2015 at the age of 47. A memorial service will be held for Johnny at 11:00 AM on Saturday September 26, 2015 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1819 North 16th Street, Orange Texas.
Johnny was born in Orange, Texas on September 12, 1967. He graduated from Orangefield High School in 1986 and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country in Desert Storm and Iraq in 1991. Upon returning from the service Johnny worked in various jobs in the construction field as an industrial insulator, welder/sheet metal layout, equipment operator / truck driver and carpenter. Johnny went on to complete courses at Associate Builders & Contractors School in Industrial Safety and last worked as a Safety Technician in the Petro Chemical Industry.
An avid outdoorsman, Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing and ATV riding. His love of the outdoors was only surpassed by his Love of God and Country. He was a Master Mason of Masonic Lodge # 364 in Vinton, Louisiana and an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. His presence is truly missed in our worship services, but we know he is worshiping with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven now.
Johnny is survived and lovingly remembered by Cathy Greathouse Wilson-Hanks his wife of 7 ½ years. His memory is cherished by his mother Dianne Roberts Hanks of Alexandria, Louisiana, his father John E Hanks Jr. and Stepmother Georgia of West Orange, Texas brother Franklin Hanks of Orange, Texas, many aunts, uncles, cousins, fourteen nephews, five nieces, nine great nephews, four great nieces and a multitude of friends.
Johnny’s predeceased by his grandparents Carl and Cleo Roberts and John E Hanks Sr. and his wife Ida.
The family wishes to thank Reverend Gary Price, the members of Trinity Baptist Church, Dr. Schachner, the staff of the Texas Oncology, Dr. Udonta, the staff of Medical Neurology, the Nurses and staff of Pinehurst Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice for all their care and support through Johnny’s illness.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society.
