Mrs. Janice Reel, age 79, of Starks, LA. passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Starks, LA. on December 11, 1937. Mrs. Reel was a daughter of late Louie Thompson and Annie Thompson. After moving back to Louisiana from Delaware, she worked at the Postal Service. She also worked at Micelle’s Meat Market as a Sales Rep. She loved listening to country and western music. She was a devoted wife and mother. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was always excited to hear about their progress in school. If they made an A or B and could “PROVE IT”, she would give them $10.
She is survived by a son, Bobby Keith Reel, Jr. and wife Eleshia (Hyatt) Reel; daughters, Beverly Kay Reel Stephenson and husband Lloyd Glenn Stephenson Jr.; Yvonne Eileen Reel Alexander and husband David Glenn Alexander, Sr.; siblings, Edith Bourgeois and her late husband George, Dwaine Thompson and wife Delores, Billy Roy Thompson and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Dixie Halsey; grandchildren, Mandy Rachel Thibodeaux, David Glenn Alexander, Jr., Lacy Jaye Alexander Crenshaw, James Elton Hyatt Reel, Charles Edwin Saulnier, Coby James Alexander, Thomas Glenn Stephenson, Katie Cecile Stephenson; ten great grandchildren, and also a host of nieces and nephews and friends left behind to cherish her memory.
Pallbearers will be Charles Edwin Saulnier, Coby James Alexander, Michael Roy Thompson, David Alexander, Sr., Lloyd Glenn Stephenson, and Thomas Glenn Stephenson. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Roy Thompson and Johnny Berry.
Services will be held at Hixson Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 with Celebrant Jody Barrileaux. Visitation will be on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 4:00-8:00pm and will resume on Tuesday from 9:00am until the time of the service. The funeral home is located at 205 E. Harrison Street in DeQuincy, LA. Burial will follow at Miller Annex in Starks, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
