Emmitt Eugene Milligan, Jr. age 83 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in Nederland, Texas. Services to honor Emmitt’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2017, at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Dorman Funeral Home.
Emmitt was born in Crowley, Louisiana on November 28, 1933, to Emmitt and Mildred Milligan, Sr. Emmitt retired as a sheet metal worker from Union 196 and 54. He was a talented musician that played in local bands as a drummer. He was a long time member and founder of the Texas Country Cajuns.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 55 years, Sylvia Milligan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Marshall of Orange, Texas; two sons, Michael Milligan of Smithville, TX, and Kenneth Milligan, of Orange, TX; two daughters, Tamara Broussard and her husband, Blaine Thomas, of Orange, TX, and Terri Ricks and her husband, Gene of Bridge City, TX; one brother, Hershal Milligan of Orange, TX and a sister, Penny Jenkins and her husband, Jeff of Little Cypress; nine grandchildren, Joel Broussard, Kyle Broussard, Sean Broussard, Aaron Broussard, Shannon Hawthorne, Amanda Mason, Amy Lua, Taylor Melancon and Brent Milligan; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren and many close friends.
