Elzie “Rex” Haynes, Jr., 66, of Vinton, LA, has fought his last fight and has joined his family and Lord in Heaven on July 12, 2017. His family was his world and he was completely surrounded by love until he took his final breath. Our hearts are filled with sadness but we are grateful he will no longer suffer.
Arrangements are made as follows: Interment of cremated remains to be held on August 25, 2017, at 11:15 at the Houston National Cemetery with Military Rites. The memorial service is to be held on August 26, 2017 at 10:00 at the Cowboy Church, 673 Fm 1078, Orange, TX 77632. A Celebration of Life to follow at The Haynes Family Camp along the river, to spread a portion of the remains, “taking him home as promised”; 488 Cody Ln., Starks, LA 70661.
Rex was born on November 7, 1950 in Fresno, California. He volunteered to join the Army during the Vietnam era. He rejoined the Army after his first tour and transferred to Fort Polk, Louisiana where he met his bride of 43 years, Lynn Berwick Haynes. He served his country with honor for 20 years, retired after Desert Storm, and joined the Merchant Marines. He has traveled the world and was awarded with many experiences, good and bad. He believed in God and Country. He was a true patriot and hero.
Rex is survived by his wife, Lynn Berwick Haynes and their children; daughter, Michelle Haynes Myrick and husband Brett of Orange, TX, and their children, Jocelynn and Brett Elizabeth; daughter, Melissa Moore and significant other Clay Bryant of Orange, TX; son, Michael Haynes and significant other Felisa Ashley of Vinton, LA, and their children, Skyla and Jordan; son, Matthew Haynes and wife Annajo of Starks, LA, and their children, Austin and Chloe. He is also survived by his siblings and their families; brother, Kenneth Haynes of Fresno, CA; sister, Judith Haynes of Fresno, CA; sister, Marsha Prichard of Portland, OR; and brother, William Healer of Riverside, CA.
