Doris Ann James, 90, of Orange, passed from this life on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Born on August 27, 1925 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the next to the oldest of six children to her parents, Rufus Theron Lollar and Ruby Pearl (Olive) Lollar, she was a longtime resident of Orange and she had worked as a nurse’s aide in the healthcare industry. In her previous years, Doris enjoyed doing yard work. Her family will most fondly remember her for being there taking care of her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray James; her grandson, Cullen James; her brothers, Kenneth Lollar and Bill Lollar and her sisters, Johnnie Ash, Merle Owen and Melba Henry. Those who will most cherish her memory are her daughters, Barbara Ann White and husband, Wilmer of Cravens, Louisiana, Patricia Lacouture and husband, Larry of Baton Rouge and Cherry Diane Maricle of Cravens, Louisiana; her sons, Stan J. Gilliam of West Orange, Jimmy Ray James and Johnny Lee James both of Orange; seventeen grandchildren, Dawn, Danny, Dara, Aimee, Susan, Toni, Jason, Joni, Angela, Brad, Joshua, Jordan, Amanda, Hannah, Sarah, Dallas and Jason; eighteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside services to remember and honor Doris’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Cravens, Louisiana with Reverend Jeffery James, with the Gravel Hill Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow services, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. A gathering of Doris’s family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
