Diedra (Dee) Frazee Hodgkinson, 54, Orange, TX, gained her angel wings unexpectedly on March 17, 2017. Dee was born in Marrero, LA on July 18, 1962 to Alton Joseph Frazee, Sr. and Esther Ainsworth Frazee. She attended Deweyville High School and after marriage relocated to Orange, TX. She was a retired PIt Boss at the Isle of Capri in Lake Charles, La.
Momma, Dee, Big Dee, Big Momma, Aunt Dee, and Sis were just a few of the names that this larger than life lady was called. Each name had a special meaning to her and she loved with all she had. She had wit, grace, humor, and smiles she loved to share with others. She was an excellent cook who could whip up the best pork backbone with gravy, pot of beans, or pan of cornbread around. Dee was happy when she was providing nourishment and fun times to family and friends. She had many adventures in life. Trapping raccoons, hog/deer hunting, fishing, shrimping, working various jobs, dancing, and outings with friends and traveling were just some of her loves.
The biggest love of her life was family. She loved her children, Terry Statum, Jr. (Jenny) and Sharee Hodgkinson whom she referred to as Bub and Ree. Of course, there are grandchildren referred to lovingly as the “Starkins” these are Louis, Terry, III, Gabriel, and Hunter Statum along with Nadia Nagem. She was also blessed with bonus grandchildren, Kendall, Luke, Logan, and Lance Hodgkinson, Hunter and Tucker Stout. Big Momma’s latest loves are great grandchildren Penelope Statum and Breagan and Noah Stout. She leaves behind sister, Aletha (Curtis) Jackson, brothers Al Frazee (Tammy), Jr, Ronnie Frazee, and Ray (Kris) Frazee and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
She was married to Carroll Wayne Hodgkinson for 19 yrs. until the time of his death in 2012. Her heart never loved another after that. He was her rock. Dee was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Sondi, her nephew, Richard and most recently her Aunt Libby Romero. There are many others that were there to greet her at Heaven’s gates on homecoming day.
According to Dee’s wishes, cremation was performed and there will be Life Celebration in her honor. Visitation and memories will be on April 1, 2017 from 10-11:30 AM at the American Legion on Green Ave in Orange TX. Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM and a memorial read at 1PM. If you have condolences/memories/pictures you would like to have included in the celebration, please send to alethajackson@yahoo.com.
