Betty Lou Nezat Fulmer, 85, of Orange, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Holly Hill House Nursing Center in Sulphur, Louisiana. Born on April 27, 1930 in Orange, Texas to her parents, Numa Luke and Alicia Mary Nezat she was a lifelong resident of Orange, she worked as a Telephone Operator for Southwestern Bell and later as a Secretary for the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Orange for 15 years. In addition to her work at St. Mary’s, Betty was also a member of the Altar Society, she enjoyed playing bingo, visiting friends and relatives and spending time with her family. Betty will be remembered by her children as a loving and devoted mother and a very devout catholic.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Fulmer, Sr.; her brothers, Lawrence Nezat, Junior Nezat and Charles Nezat; her sisters, Hazel Nezat, Olamph Peery, Ethel Conway, Viola Vance and Mary Granger. Those who will most cherish her memory are her daughters, Ruth Walker and husband, Patrick of Sulphur, Louisiana and Margaret Fulmer of Orange; her sons, Donnie Fulmer of Orange, Charlie Fulmer of Sulphur and John Fulmer of Sulphur; her loving and caring sister, Frances Cockerham of Vinton, Louisiana; her granddaughters, Jaime Walker, Kacey Freytag and Mistee Hathaway as well as nieces, nephews and members of her extended family and friends.
A mass of the resurrection will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orange with Father Joseph P. Daleo serving as the celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial and Interment will follow services where she will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on Meeks Drive in Orange. A gathering of Betty’s family and friends for a time of reflection and sharing will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange with a Rosary – Christian Wake Service to be held at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Melvin Payne, presiding. Betty’s family wishes to express sincere thanks to the Holly Hill House nurses, CNA’s and Staff, who extended loving care to Betty.
