SHERIFF’S REPORT
By Newton Co. Sheriff Billy Rowles
Lot’s going on this last week. Hope every one’s week was good. Let’s see what’s been going on.
We received a call from a TV station about two starving horses. Seems they were called by someone here in the Newton area. Officers responded and sure enough they were right. We contacted our stock officer, Willie Barrow, and the owner said he could not afford to feed them and, one was surrendered to the county. Gotta feed your critters.
One of our deputies received a call about a possible stolen motorcycle. When the officer checked the VIN number it was reported stolen from Orange county. We know who was seen riding it, so now we have to find him and find out the rest of the story.
We were called about some possible counterfeit $100.00 bills floating around the Trout Creek area. We recovered two counterfeit $100.00 bills. Everyone please be aware these things are floating around.
We got a 911 call where boyfriend burned girlfriends clothes, caller advised boyfriend was setting outside waiting for our officers to get there where he could kill them. When we got there boyfriend and girlfriend were gone. Still haven’t heard back from the caller. They left together!
Friday morning was one year ago, five Dallas P.D. officers were killed. We gathered here to have one minute of silence to remember and honor these officers. Please pray for the officers families. They are still hurting.
Gotta Go: Thought for the week. I finally figured out what I want to be when I get older, “younger”. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, Just Hollar. God Bless.
