The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that a 26-year old Louisiana man died as a result of a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Orange on Interstate 10 which closed the eastbound lanes for over six hours. Trooper Stephanie Davis reported at approximately 1:15 AM a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox SUV was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate and attempted to make a U-turn when it was struck by a Kenworth tractor truck pulling a trailer near mile marker 875. Judge Rodney Price pronounced Thaddeus Demarius Jones the driver of the Chevrolet SUV dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler Alfonso Fonseca, age 28, of Florida received minor injuries, but refused medical treatment. The crash closed the eastbound lanes of I-10 at mile marker 875 near Womack Road until about 7:45 Monday morning. Hazmat crews were working to remove radiator fluid and diesel fuel from the roadway.
