Women were tough on Crawdad’s convenience stores Sunday. In the morning, a woman chasing a man drove a pickup truck through the double glass doors at the Crawdad’s on FM 1442. Then Sunday night a masked, rifle-toting woman robbed the Crawdad’s off Interstate 10 at MLK Drive.
The robbery was reported at 9:20 p.m. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said having a woman armed robber is “very unusual.” The woman came into the store and demanded money. The clerk gave her cash and she left.
Captain Enmon said she was wearing a black hoodie, a black mask and black pants. The rifle was also black, but officers do not know what kind it was. She was carrying a blue or green backpack.
After getting the cash, she walked outside and headed west. Enmon said the clerk did not see a vehicle, but police believe she had one. Detectives are checking surveillance cameras.
The crash into the Crawdad’s on FM 1442 was reported at 10:33 a.m. Sunday. Enmon said a man ran into the store and yelled for someone to call police. At that time, a pickup truck crashed into the store through the double glass doors. No one was injured.
Enmon said the woman driving the pickup said “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of this” and drove away. She was not there when police arrived. Police reported the man’s address as a street nearby off FM 1442. No arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information about the two incidents should contact the Orange Police Department Detective Division at 883-1095.
