A 23-year-old woman was arrested for strong-arm robbery after she complained to a store clerk about 8-liner machines and then took money. She told police the clerk grabbed her and she hit him to get him off of her. Police went to the Honey Stop at 1012 W. Park Avenue at 11:48 Sunday night after a 9-1-1 call. Officer J.E. Roy reported that when he arrived, the woman was locked inside the store.
According to Officer Roy’s report, the woman was upset because an 8-liner machine, similar to a slot machine, took her money. She complained to the clerk.
The woman told Roy the clerk became rude and refused to refund the money. The woman ran behind the clerk’s counter, reached under the counter and took cash from a box. The police report she took $118. Brittany Nicole Roberts of Orange was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
Cars at the Linkwood and Sunset apartments were hit by a burglar, or burglars, Thursday night. Orange police received four calls to the apartments Friday morning and another call to Bruce Lane in the Westmont subdivision near Sunset Apartments. Two of the cars had the front passenger windows removed. In the other two, a passenger window was shattered. Three of the vehicles were missing touch-screen stereo systems. One was also had a wallet and backpack stolen. The backpack was found in the complex. One car had nothing missing.
The owner of the car parked on Bruce Lane told police she thought she locked the car with the remote. In the morning, she discovered a car door was unlocked and the trunk had been opened. A Michael Kors purse was stolen.
A house burglary was reported Friday morning in the 1600 block of Mississippi Street. The resident discovered that a back door had been forced open and the door frame splintered. A steel safe and jewelry were stolen.
