The City of West Orange is not happy with its audit report from last fiscal year. It is not because of what the audit says, but instead the city cannot get what the audit says.
Monday for the second straight month accountants Sandersen and Sheffer failed to provide the Fiscal Year 2016 Audit Report to the City Council during its meeting. West Orange is now only holding one council meeting a month, and the next meeting is scheduled for April 10.
Mayor Pro Tem Shirley Bonnin chaired the meeting for Mayor Roy McDonald who was ill. She stated the audit report is supposed to be delivered to the city secretary’s office by March 31. City Attorney Rex Peveto has been in contact with the accounting firm and was told they would attend the council meetings. Peveto said, “We have a two-year contract with them, but if this is the way they’re treating us this year that might be something we need to address once this year’s over.”
In other business, the City Council approved Clint Robinson and Randall Enner as members of the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department. Enner previously served as the chief of the West Orange Fire Department and currently serves on the Orange Fire Department. Jacob Frederick was approved to be a full-time employee in the Public Works Department. Frederick has completed his temporary training period successfully.
