Saturday afternoon DuPont Drive had to be closed to thru traffic after a car ran into a telephone pole near the corner of DuPont and Meyers.
Kimberly Butler, 52, of Buna lost control of her Volkswagen Jetta, striking the pole and breaking it at the base. Entergy crews straightened and patched the pole and will replace it at a later time.
Butler was given a citation for failure to drive in a single lane. OPD said her injuries were non life threatening.

The Orange Police Department are investigating two armed robberies, a hit and run incident, and a couple burglaries from the weekend. On Saturday night, the police report that a couple was robbed by a man armed with a rifle who knocked on the door of their apartment on 37th Street, and when they opened the door he forced his way in. The suspect was described as a tall thin black male. He took several items from the apartment.
A pizza delivery driver reported to officers of being robbed of money by a black male with a firearm on Sunday shortly before 10:00 PM. The robbery occurred in the 600 block of North Street.
George Johnson, age 54, told police he was struck Friday about 9:00 AM on Edgar Brown Drive by a blue Chevy pickup truck driven a white male. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid for Johnson who was treated for his injuries by Acadian Ambulance Service and at the Medical Center.
The burglary of a vehicle parked from Thursday night into early Friday morning behind the Spanky’s restaurant is being investigated. The owner said the rear window of her GMC Envoy was broken and several items were missing.
Friday morning several thousands of dollars of wire were discovered stolen from a residence under construction in the 4700 block of White Oak Drive. The inside walls of the residence were open and unknown suspects entered the house without permission and took ten different rolls of wire with an estimated value of about $3,000.
