The much anticipated walking track in Pinehurst is becoming a reality. John Toney the supervisor of Streets and Parks in Pinehurst had a crew working at West Park Friday morning. Toney said they were scrapping off the surface of grass in preparation of laying a mat that will then be covered in dirt for the track. The oval track is to be roughly a fifth of a mile when completed and will mostly be in the shade of trees of the park. Toney hopes everyone will come and take advantage of the track at West Park in Pinehurst when it is completed. The walking track has been in the works for several years, but will be just one of the improvements to the park located on Park Avenue in Pinehurst. City Administrator Robbie Hood has stated previously the park will also received new play ground equipment.
