A Vidor man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident Sunday afternoon on FM 105 in Orange County. Jerry Neal Campbell, age 77, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on FM 105 at Arrington Lane according to Trooper Stephanie Davis with the Department of Public Safety. At approximately 5:30 PM Sunday Davis reported a 2008 Dodge pickup truck was traveling northbound on FM 105 when for unknown reasons the truck crossed the center line into the southbound lane and continued off the roadway crashing through the bar ditch and struck Campbell who was clearing debris near a private fence line. The driver of the pickup was Michael Lynn Davis, age 38, of Kountze. Davis attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly detained and arrested for failure to stop and render aid. Davis did receive minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He’s been charged with intoxication manslaughter, accident involving death, and possession of a controlled substance.
