Orange police arrested 45-year-old identical twin brothers passed out in a car with the engine running on Highway 87 Saturday afternoon. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and the passenger was arrested for public intoxication.
Police report they received a 9-1-1 call at 1:04 p.m. about a possible driver being intoxicated and traveling northbound near North Orange Baptist Church. A few minutes later, patrol officers found the Nissan stopped at the intersection with Allie Payne Road. Patrol Officer S.J. Mulhollan reported both men inside were passed out and the engine of the car was running.
The driver, Randall Ray Lorenz, was arrested for DWI and the brother, Russell Jay Lorenz, was arrested for public intoxication. Both were taken to the Orange County Jail.
A pit-bull dog in his owner’s yard had minor wounds after a man stabbed at it through a fence. Orange police report a woman flagged down a patrol car at 1:09 p.m. Saturday on Cordrey Avenue. The woman led the officer to the 2200 block of Eighth Street nearby in the Brownwood neighborhood.
She told police she had been sitting on the back porch and her son was near the front fence. Two men ran up and one stabbed through the fence at the dog. The patrol officer reported the dog had two small cuts on the left side.
A neighbor said he saw the two men and saw one swinging his arm, but the neighbor did not see a knife.
A resident in the 1200 block of Ninth Street reported a burglary Sunday evening. The man told Orange police he returned home about 7:30 p.m. to find a door open. A number of items from inside were missing. Also, a bike was reported stolen from under a carport in the 2800 block of Clark Circle about 9:20 a.m. Sunday.
