Tropical Storm Bill went into the central Texas coast with little effect on Orange County. Tides ran about two feet above normal on Sabine Lake, affecting the rivers and bayous. The Sabine River Authority gauge on Pier Road in Orange had the Sabine River at almost 3.5 feet above sea level. Flood level is 4 feet above sea level. The rise in water covered some low-lying areas but no widespread flooding was reported. Heavy rains and gusting winds came and went during the day as outer bands from the storm hit the area. About 1.1 inch of rain fell during the day, according to the Pier Road gauge. The Orange County Airport on Highway 87 South had a number of gusts of 30 miles per hour and up to 33 miles per hour. Winds sometimes blew at nearly 20 miles an hour. A handful of scattered electrical outages were reported during the day.
