Trees and limbs were blown down Thursday morning in Pinehurst and parts of Orange as a thunderstorm with a cold front blew through. A tree was down on Park Avenue in Pinehurst and another on McKee Drive off Park on the east side of Adams Bayou in Orange. Minor wind damage has been reported along 20th Street in the same neighborhood in Orange.
The wind came through a few minutes after 7 a.m. with a cold front. The National Weather Service gauges at the Orange County Airport show the wind suddenly shifted from a southwest breeze to 13 miles per hour from the northwest with a gust reaching 26 miles per hour. Only a fraction of an inch of rain fell.
In an unrelated power outage, about 4,500 Entergy customers lost service about 6:15 a.m. The outage extended along and outward from Highway 62 near FM 105 in the Orangefield area up through Mauriceville. Entergy reported a transmission station went down. Power was restored within two hours.
