Orange police are investigating three armed robberies that happened within 28 hours. Detectives believe the man who robbed a postal carrier Monday evening may have held up a barbershop Tuesday afternoon.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the barber at Peanut’s Hair Shop, 1406 10th Street, was injured after the robber hit him in the head with a pistol. The stick-up was reported at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The robber, whose face was covered with a bandana, stole cash and items from the store.
The mail carrier, who was delivering mail, was robbed at gunpoint Monday about 5:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of Ninth Street, a block away from the barbershop. When the robber asked for money, the carrier said she didn’t have any. However, she reached inside her pocket and pulled out $3 and a debit card.
Captain Enmon said the robber threw the bills and card on the ground. The man was described as black, about 6 feet tall, wearing a dark blue hoodie and dark pants. His face was covered except for his eyes and mouth. The postal service is offering up to $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person involved.
A home invasion robbery was reported at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday at a house in the 800 block of First Street. Captain Enmon said a man entered the house and threw a liquid in the resident’s face. The liquid caused stinging but the victim did not need medical treatment. The robber, who was wearing a ski mask, also had a gun and stole cash.
Captain Enmon said the home invasion robber does not appear to be the same person as in the other two.
