A burglar made off with $1,000 worth of meat at JB’s Barbecue Monday night. Proprietor Gerard Arrington called police at 9 a.m. Tuesday after discovering that a door on the far side of the smoke house had been opened. Orange Patrol Officer Justin Kirkpatrick reported the door frame had been broken. Three cases of brisket, two cases of link sausages and a case of turkey had been stolen.
The burglary at JB’s wasn’t the only case of stolen meat reported to Orange police Tuesday morning. At 9:14 a.m., a resident in the 1600 block of 14th Street called. Two beef roasts were missing from his freezer along with a Samsung phone.
A lone gunman early Tuesday morning robbed the Shell convenience store at Edgar Brown Drive and Bluebonnet Drive. Orange police were called at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday to the store at 3118 Edgar Brown Drive. The gunman took cash and iPhone then ran off. Police did not have a detailed description of the robber.
The Orange Housing Authority had a $3,000 air conditioning unit stolen from a house in the 200 block of Schley Street. An employee called police at 11:37 a.m. Monday to report that the vacant house was missing the unit, which had been outside. The house had been vacant but was supposed to get a tenant.
