The Bridge City Planning and Zoning Commission approved one of two preliminary plats it reviewed on Monday. The Twin Lakes Subdivision Phase 2 includes 22 lots in Orangefield and is located in the extra territorial jurisdiction of Bridge City. The residential addition is located on FM 105 just east of FM 1442 and is being developed by Countryland Properties. The subdivision conforms to the city’s specifications and had been reviewed positively by the Orange County Drainage District. The Twin Lakes plat was approved unanimously by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The other plat of the Marsh Estates Phase 1 includes 18 lots in the city limits of Bridge City near the Bridge City Elementary School. City Manager Jerry Jones informed the commission that the plat had not been reviewed by the drainage district. The Planning and Zoning Commission decided to put approval of that plat on hold until it gets approval from the Orange County Drainage District.
About 40 years of public service came to an end the last day of February. Public Works Director Gerald Robinson worked his last day for the City of Bridge City. Robinson has worked for four decades in several different municipalities, but his six and a half years in Bridge City have been special. Robinson related, “Lot more responsibility with just this job, but one thing I was told when I got here was everybody knows their job, and they do. They do a very good job here, and I’ve enjoyed it.”
Robinson plans to do some traveling and visiting family and friends during his retirement. He will be missed according to Tammi Fisette on the City Council.
Fisette emphasized how Robinson always supported the council and worked to help the citizens of Bridge City. “He will be very much missed; he has done an excellent job. His service, his dedication, he’s a hundred percent, and very proud of him. I thank him for his dedication,” Fisette confessed.
