Five people in two cars were taken to hospitals Saturday after a rear-end collision on Old Highway 90 near Foreman Road. Orange Police Officer D.Y. Myers reported that a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 66-year-old Mack Toler of Orange was pulling another vehicle. Toler was traveling east in the 1400 block of Old Highway 90. A Ford Escort, driven by 53-year-old John Hardin, hit the back of the vehicle that Toler was pulling.
Hardin, along with a 9-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy in the car, were taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. The injuries were not life-threatening. Officer Myers reported that Toler refused treatment. His passengers, 58-year-old Anthony Viges and 68-year-old Roy Peck, were taken by Acadian to Baptist Emergency Room in Orange. Officer Myers issued a ticket to Hardin for failure to control speed.
