Early voting for the Republican and Democratic primary runoff races will start Monday, May 16, and run through Friday, May 20. In Orange County, the only runoff race will be for Precinct 1 county commissioner. Bobby Manshack and Johnny Trahan are facing each other in the Republican primary. No Democrats are running in the November general election; so the Republican winner is the projected winner of the seat. The winner will replace David Dubose, who is retiring from the court.
The main primary runoff election day is Tuesday, May 24.
Early voting sites will be at the Orange Public Library, Bridge City Public Works Building, Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department, and Raymond Gould Community Center in Vidor. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for Tuesday, May 17, when the polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Only people who live within the Precinct 1 boundaries may vote in the Orange County runoff, but during early voting, registered voters may go to any of the four local polling sites.
A person who voted in the Democratic primary in March will not be allowed to vote in the Republican runoff. However, if someone did not vote in March, they may choose which primary.
Statewide, the Democrats have as runoff for a seat on the railroad commission. The Republicans have a couple of statewide runoffs.
