The City of Pinehurst is taking steps now to be ready for any federal grants that may become available following Tropical Storm Harvey. City Administrator Robbie Hood recommended that Pinehurst solicit for grant administrators and engineers to handle any grants the city can acquire within the 60-day timeline imposed by FEMA. Hood said, “I want to make sure that we don’t miss anything out there, so we can just move forward with this.”
In addition to having the grant administrator and engineer lined up to handle the grants, Hood wants Pinehurst using procurement policies that closely follow federal procurement procedures. Hood was advised by Waxman and Associates to adopt the federal procurement guidelines used by the City of Sour Lake which were updated as of September 2017. “We want to follow the federal guidelines because there are strict guidelines that must be followed when you get federal monies,” Hood concluded.
The Pinehurst City Council approved both of Hood’s recommendations at its meeting this week.
