The contract between the City of Pinehurst and the Pinehurst Police Officers Association was approved Tuesday evening by the Pinehurst City Council. Both sides were in agreement that this was one of the more pleasant negotiations between the two parties.
The City Council approved a contract with Simco Enterprises as recommended by engineer Nestor Barroeta for sewer construction on Lark Street between 37th and Strickland. Barroeta said Simco was the low bidder and will do pipe bursting of 6-inch and 8-inch lines while also removing and replacing man-hole covers. After Simco completes the sewer work the road will be resurfaced with asphalt to its original condition or better.
City Administrator Robbie Hood thanked the Orange County Road and Bridge Department for helping complete street projects in Pinehurst. Hood was glad to announce the completion of road work on 35th Street and Pelican which the county work crews assisted in doing. The city administrator personally thanked the county workers for their great work on the project. Michael James represented County Engineer Clark Slacum in attending the meeting with several members of the crew that did the street work.
Hood also had good news from the Texas Department of Agriculture. Hood announced that the city had received a $275,000 grant from the Department of Agriculture to do work on the city’s lift stations. The details of this project will be refined over the next year since the project is for October 2016 to October 2017.
