Orange police are investigating the armed robbery of the Star Stop on 16th Street Sunday night and the attempted robbery of an Interstate 10 motel early Sunday morning.

At 5:48 Sunday morning, the desk clerk at the Orange Inn and Suites called 9-1-1 to report an attempted robbery.
The clerk told Officer Shelby Mulhollan he thinks the would-be robber was holding a toy gun. The robber was described as a black man about 5-feet-8-inches tall and wearing a blue coat. The man had a knitted blanket over his head with one eye hole cut out.
The clerk suspects a woman may have been working with the man. She came inside and asked about a room as the would-be robber entered the desk area. The woman was white, about 5-feet-7-inches and thin. She had red hair and was between 20 and 30 years of age, police reported.
Instead of getting the money, the clerk went into the office and called 9-1-1. The man and woman left.
A $50,000 bulldozer was reported stolen Saturday afternoon from a worksite off the 4600 block of Interstate 10. Orange Police Officer Shelby Mulhollan reported the bulldozer was a yellow 2005 model John Deere. The owner said he had it locked and it was in a locked fenced area.
