Boy threatens elderly man with croquet mallet.
An 11-year-old boy threatened to break the legs of an 84-year-old man and swung a croquet mallet at the man’s head. Orange police are investigating the threats as an aggravated assault.
Police were called to the 600 block of Camellia at 5 p.m. Friday after the assault was reported. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said no one was injured and police are contacting the boy’s parents.

A burglar stole a gumball machine from a 16th Street pawn shop, but an alarm sounding scared him away from taking more. Police went to Best Pawn, 1202 16th Street, at 10:32 p.m. Friday after the alarm sounded. Captain Robert Enmon said the door had been pried open. The red and black gumball machine was near the door and the burglar grabbed it before running away. Investigators are reviewing the surveillance video recording.

A pickup truck was reported stolen early Friday morning from the 100 block of Cherry Avenue. Orange police went to the house about 5:30 a.m. The truck was a 2015 Ford F-150 platinum with the Mississippi license number of AE2542.

Police are investigating an incident in which a 75-year-old man claims he was a victim of a strong-arm robbery. However, Detective Captain Robert Enmon said a woman considered to be a suspect gave a different story and said she bought an item from the man. Officers went to the 400 block of Cherry Avenue after a 911 call about 8 p.m. Friday. Enmon said police have had numerous calls to the house in recent months.
