Orange police are investigating a Friday night home invasion robbery at a unit in the Terrance Vine Apartments on Meeks Drive. Officers went to the apartment at 8:49 p.m. Friday. A man and woman in the apartment said two young men, one threatening them with a pistol, forced their way inside. The two robbers took cash and prescription pills before fleeing.
Also on Friday night, a man returning to his house in the Old Orange Historic District came home to find a burglar inside. Police went to the 800 block of Cherry Avenue at 9:35 p.m. Friday after getting a 9-1-1 call. The homeowner said that when he went inside the house, the burglar ran outside and jumped over a wooden fence. Power tools, cash and a cell phone were missing.
A Georgia man was arrested for aggravated assault Saturday night at a local motel. Police report the woman he was living with was beaten about the face and she was choked around the neck. Officers reported Kendarrious Thomas of Fitzgerald, Georgia, was arrested for the felony charge and taken to the Orange County Jail. Relatives arrived to help the woman.
A woman was arrested for Class C misdemeanor theft after she took tampons from Kroger about 8 Friday morning. Orange police report an employee saw the woman take a box of 18 tampons into the bathroom. When she came outside, she did not have the box. After being confronted by police, the woman took 17 tampons out of a cargo pants pockets. She said she was using the 18th one and she did not have money to pay for $4.69 box.
Two vehicle burglaries were reported during the weekend to Orange police. On Friday, an out-of-town man reported his pickup truck was missing items from the Hampton Inn, 2080 Interstate 10. Surveillance video shows a man at 2:31 a.m. September 20 going up to the truck, parked in the front of the hotel, and taking items from the tool box. Police said about $4,000 worth of tools were stolen.
On Saturday morning at 10:20 a.m., police went to the 700 block of Cypresswood. A resident was missing fishing tackle, a bag and cologne from his vehicle.
Sunday afternoon a man reported that a generator was stolen from a storage shed at his parents’ house in the 2300 block of Eighth Street. He said the generator had been purchased in July and he was keeping it in the back shed. The generator was stolen sometime between Friday morning and Saturday morning.
