A motorcyclist was injured Saturday afternoon when he ran off Eddleman Road at a curve. Orange police report 40-year-old Craig Broughton was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Police report he was driving east on Eddleman Road near Memorial Drive about 5 p.m. when he ran off into a ditch and the motorcycle overturned.
A woman told Orange police Friday night that she was hit in the face with a brick while at the Kwik Stop store at 1555 16th Street. Police went to the store at 10:15 p.m. Friday after the attack. The woman said the other woman asked her name and when learned the name from someone hit the victim in the face. Officer Kirkpatrick reported the victim fell onto her back on the concrete. The attacker was stopped by other people and then she left in a car. The officer reported the victim had a bruised and swollen face but refused treatment from the ambulance. She told the officer she would have someone take her to a hospital.
Police went to Tractor Supply, 2020 Interstate 10 at 3:15 p.m. Saturday because of a stolen mini-bike that was on display by the front door. A customer saw a man drive up, put the mini-bike in his car and drive off. Patrol officers couldn’t find the thief in the area.
A resident on Maple Drive Sunday afternoon saw a man grab a hubcap off a parked car belonging to a neighbor. The theft was about 2:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Maple. The neighbor saw the thief run east on Maple and then north.
A burglary was reported at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Camellia. Police said items were taken sometime between Friday and Sunday.
Also, a 2007 silver Nissan Altima was reported stolen from the 2400 block of 19th Street about 11:30 Sunday morning.
Police are investigating the theft of a Jeep Grand Cherokee as a strong-arm robbery because the owner of the SUV was punched in the face early Sunday morning. The victim told Officer D.B. Mulhollan that he had been drinking at the suspect’s house and fell asleep.
After 2 a.m., the man living at the house on Bowling Lane said he was going to take the Jeep. The owner told him ‘no,’ but the man continued to take the SUV. The owner got in the back seat and tried to get him to stop. At one point, the driver reached back and slapped the owner and the owner hit the driver in the back of the head.
The Jeep ran off the road in the 600 block of Lutcher Drive. The two men got out and the man accused of stealing the SUV began beating the owner. The man then drove off with the Jeep.
