Orange police stopped a burglary in progress in Pinehurst early on the morning of December 23. Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer said the juvenile thieves were stealing almost $13,000 worth of dirt bikes from Triple L Honda in the 1700 block of Strickland Drive.
Chief Hanauer said an Orange patrol officer was traveling by the business about 3 in the morning and saw two males walking and pushing motorcycles down the street. When the males saw the police, they dropped the bikes and ran. Police found a third male waiting in a vehicle on Mockingbird Street nearby.
Orange officers soon found one of the males who had run. Chief Hanauer said the two arrested are both juveniles with Beaumont addresses.
They had broken into the business by breaking a plate glass window on the front of the building. They then removed four dirt bikes. The chief said all four bikes were recovered. The damage to the window is estimated at $600.
Anyone with information about the third person involved in the break-in should contact the Pinehurst Police Department at 886-2221.
