Sales tax collections are down across Orange County except for the city of Orange. The Texas Comptroller has sent checks to cities, counties and special districts to cover sales taxes from the month of March.
Orange County had an increase for March this year compared to last year, but is down for the year to date. The city of Orange is the only entity with an increase for receipts for the year to date. Pinehurst and West Orange had slight increases for the month compared to last year.
The figures for the entities are:
Orange County (0.5 percent sales tax rate): $459,112 for the month and $1.76 million for the year to date, a decrease of $320,000 for the year to date from 2016.
Bridge City (1.5 percent sales tax rate): $115,262 for the month and $596,368 for the year to date, a decrease of $39,870 for the year to date from 2016.
Orange (1.5 percent sales tax rate): $483,763 for the month and $1.86 million for the year to date, an increase of $260,000 for the year to date from 2016.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent sales tax rate): $57,231 for the month and $250,026 for the year to date, a decrease of $28,357 for the year to date from 2016.
Vidor (1.5 percent sales tax rate): $251,368 for the month and $1.05 million for the year to date, a decrease of $131,000 for the year to date from 2016.
West Orange (1.25 percent sales tax rate): $109,106 for the month and $498,498 for the year to date, a decrease of $4,178 for the year to date from 2016.
Orange County Emergency Services District 3 for Little Cypress Fire and Rescue (1.5 percent sales tax rate): $16,260 for the month and $77,399 for the year to date. (2016 receipts are not comparable)
