Orange County is down more than $340,000 in sales tax revenues for the first six months of the calendar year compared to last year. The Texas Comptroller’s Office on Wednesday sent monthly checks to public entities collecting sales taxes. All but the city of Orange were down for the year to date.
The checks cover sales for the month of April. The year-to-date figures are the totals sent to the entities since January. Statistics on sales taxes are:
Orange County: $374,348 for the month and $2.133 million, down $341,341 from the year to date in 2016, a 13.79 percent decrease.
Bridge City: $93,700 for the month, $790,066 for the year to date, down 8.72 percent.
Orange: $332,073 for the month and $2.19 million for the year to date, an 11.19 percent increase.
Pinehurst: $64,185 for the month and $314,211 for the year to date, a 3.52 percent decrease.
Vidor: $203,335 for the month and $1.253 million for the year to date, an 8 percent decrease.
West Orange: $88,755 for the month and $587,254 for the year to date, a 0.55 percent decrease.
Orange County Emergency Services District 3 (Little Cypress Fire and Rescue): $13,568 for the month and $90,967 for the year to date.
