Businessman David Hinds got the go-ahead for his Oak Allie subdivision Monday when the city of Orange’s Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the development’s preliminary plat.
Next the preliminary plat will go before the City Council for approval.
Hinds did not appear at the meeting because of out-of-town business. In a written comment Tuesday morning, he said, “We are excited to be a part of growing Orange and we look forward to working diligently with the City of Orange to develop something unique for our community. We greatly appreciate the city’s continued support throughout the entire process.”
Earlier this year, the Planning and Zoning Commission rejected a preliminary plat because it did not follow all the requirements under the city’s ordinances.
Hinds plans to build 16 upscale two-story houses along Allie Payne Road. The houses will be built in the old New Orleans architectural style.
