NEWTON CO. SHERIFF’S REPORT
by Sheriff Billy Rowles

Hope all had a good week. Wasn’t too bad here. Let’s see what’s been going on.
Got a call about a deceased person in his deer stand. It appears it was a heart attack.
Turned out it was a great friend of mine, Mike Anding. He was a retired officer with Vidor Police Department. Tough on the family. Please remember the Anding family in your prayers.
I went to Austin for a memorial service at the Sheriff’s association for Sheriff’s Officers killed in the line of duty. Newton County had a Deputy shot and killed in 1929 and we got him put on the wall. The Deputy was Joseph Obie Talley. Some 20 or so of his family were in Austin for the ceremony. I enjoyed being with the family for the ceremony. Deputy Talley was a Newton County fallen hero.
Captain Ashley started screaming here at the office. She is going to have a baby soon, so everyone thought something was wrong. Kathy Lane and the guys went to check on her. SNAKE IN THE OFFICE. All ended well. DEAD SNAKE. Thanks Deputy Carter.
Lots of stealing going on in the Bon Wier area. We knew who it was and now we have him in jail. Got some of the stolen items back. He was arrested Friday afternoon. Hope it slows down.
Gotta Go. Thought for the week: A retired husband is often a wife’s full-time job. Ya’ll have a great week. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Need us, just holler. God Bless.
