Orange police learned from a hospital that a man had been shot in the foot during a fight Sunday night near Solomon Johnson Park.
Officer Grant McLean reported several people had called dispatch about hearing gun shots in the area of Burton and Third Street about 10:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they saw signs of a fight and a car parked at the Texas Food Store, 305 Burton Avenue, had been hit by gunfire.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said people are not cooperating with the investigation and the man with the foot injury told police he wasn’t involved in the fight.
The man was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur and was under-going surgery Monday. Captain Enmon said the injury is not life-threatening.
Another gun-related incident was reported on Friday night in the Cove neighborhood. A 51-year-old man called police at 6:11 p.m. to report a deadly threat was made to him at his residence in the 800 block of Arkansas Street.
He told police he was outside when a vehicle with four people pulled up. He knew one of the people. They demanded money that they said he owed them. A woman in the car showed him a silver pistol and threatened to kill him. They then drove off.
