A 39-year-old man was pushed down on the outdoors stairs at the Orange County Courthouse Tuesday morning. Orange police arrested a 52-year-old man for Class A misdemeanor assault in connection with the attack. Officer Logan Holland reported the two had been involved in an eviction hearing. The head of courthouse security called police.
Michael Allen Parrish was taken to the county jail for the assault. If found guilty, he faces a punishment of up to a year in the county jail and a maximum $4,000 fine.
Officer Logan said a witness saw a man run at full speed toward another man and push him at the steps. The victim landed on his knee and left shoulder.
Orange police reported a man fired a pistol in the air to scare off a group of young men on Bob Hall Road Tuesday afternoon. The incident was at 3:35 p.m. at near the railroad tracks at Barker Street and Bob Hall. According to Officer Tim Pruitt, a 24-year-old man was riding his bicycle near Taco Bell when four or five young men began chasing him.
The bicyclist’s mother was at the nearby Red’s Liquor Store and saw the chase. She and her friend got into a pickup truck and followed them. The friend said he fired the gun into the air and the group ran away. Officer Pruitt reported he took the .40 caliber S&W automatic pistol into custody.
A Taco Bell customer had an “oops” moment at 9:47 Tuesday night when she tried to create a new drive-through. Orange Patrol Officer Justin Kirkpatrick said the woman was going to park at the restaurant and stepped on the gas instead of the brake. Her Buick Lacrosse jumped the curb and hit the glass front door. The woman backed up and waited for police. No charges were filed.
