The City of Orange is monitoring the Sabine River flood stage. As of 2:00 pm, the National Weather Service predicts up to seven (7) feet of water in the Sabine River, which may impact streets and structures in low lying areas. Lee Anne Brown, Orange Emergency Management Coordinator says areas of concern are downtown Orange, Cove, Brownwood, Hillbrook Estates, and Cypress bayou neighborhoods. Predicting an exact timing is difficult, but weather conditions indicate the impact of rising water as early as Sunday evening. At this time the City is recommending that residents in these low lying areas prepare their properties and pets for possible water intrusion. Sandbags are available at the county precinct offices, City boat ramp, 4103 Meeks Drive (the old National Guard Amory) and at 1109 W. Polk. The City will provide updates as they become available.
