Conrad Orange Shipyard will be building the first Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) bunker barge for the marine industry in North America. The owner of the barge is WesPac Midstream LLC, along with its affiliate Clean Marine Energy LLC. The local shipyard is on Market Street along the Sabine River south of the Orange County Courthouse and has about 300 employees. The barge will be able to transport LNG and will hold 2,200 cubic meters. WesPac reports that the barge is expected to be deployed to Tacoma, Washington in early 2016 and eventually relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. The barge was designed with new technology from the French engineering company GTT.
