DNA testing and forensics helped lead to a murder indictment against an Orange man in connection with killing Shane Austin Cooper in 2016.
Orange police Wednesday afternoon arrested 51-year-old Felix Guillory at his house in the 2100 block of Link Avenue. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said an Orange County grand jury earlier in the day had indicted Guillory for murder.
Police found the body of the 39-year-old Cooper lying in the 500 block of North Street in the Brownwood area at 2:30 a.m. March 24, 2016. He had been stabbed numerous times with a pocket knife. Cooper lived nearby.
Neighbors had called police after hearing a disturbance outside.
“Forensics is what made this case,” Captain Enmon said. Detectives had been waiting a year and a half for the DNA test results, he said.
“The Orange Police Department thanks those involved in this case, citizens and outside agencies, that contributed to the indictment,” he said.
