UPDATE- Orange Fire Marshal John Bilbo is ruling the early morning fire of a vacant house on Cooper Drive as arson. He said it was the fourth fire at the address in recent months. One was outside and the other three fires damaged the house.
The fire department went to the house in the 900 block of Cooper Drive at 5:30 a.m. Friday. Bilbo said the attic, where the fire started, and the roof were in flames when firefighters arrived. They first cooled down the house next door because the radiant heat from the blaze posed a danger to it. The heat melted the vinyl siding but the house did not catch fire.
At approximately 5:30AM, the City of Orange Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 900 block of Cooper. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire showing from the front of the structure, but had the fire under control within 20 minutes of arrival. The house was vacant and there were no reported injuries. There was minor damage to the house next door due to the intense heat. The fire is being investigated as suspicious in nature and isĀ under investigation.
