A 22-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault and his 54-year-old father was taken to a Beaumont hospital early Tuesday morning after the father went into cardiac arrest. Orange Police Officer L.T. Holland reported the two fought after they had been drinking at a club on Simmons Drive. According to Holland, the Orange Fire Department called for officers after the emergency call to help the father at 1 a.m. First responders went to a house in the 1800 block of Maple Avenue in Greenway Park. Police said the son told them he and his father had been drinking and went home. His father became confrontational and tried to hit the son with a cooking pot that was on the stove. The son then hit the father several times and used a headlock to keep his father from hitting him again. The son had a cast on his left arm during the fight. When the son realized his father was unconscious, he tried to clean up some blood and then called for emergency help. Officer Holland reported seeing blood around the house, on the pot handle and on the son’s cast. Bryan Dyson was arrested for aggravated assault and taken to the Orange County Jail. His bond was set at $5,000. Hardy Dyson was taken by Acadian Ambulance Service to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
