A falling-down house in Navy Park was knocked down and the remnants removed Wednesday as part of the city of Orange’s effort to improve areas. The demolition and six more are being paid through a Stark Foundation donation.
City Planning Director Kelvin Knauf said the foundation gave $35,300 to the city for removing vacant and dilapidated buildings. He said the competitive bids were so good the city is able to afford to tear down seven buildings with the grant.
The house removed on Wednesday was in the 200 block of Moreell Avenue. It was next to one of the new, two-story duplexes built in Navy Park the past few years.
Knauf said removing the dilapidated house “is really going to improve the appearance of the neighborhood.”
